Accommodations at the Nova Scotia Community College Ivany Campus (Kitchen Facilities Available)
This training is appropriate for ASL-English interpreters and/or ASL users who may want to travel and meet other Deaf people from around the world. PARID is approved by the RID CMP to sponsor continuing education activities. This program is offered for 0.6 CEUs each day in professional studies for a total of 3.0 CEUs for attending all days. Participants should have some knowledge of the topic. At the completion of this training, the participant will be able to:Overall Learning Outcomes
By the end of the 5-day International Sign immersion workshop, participants will be able to:

Produce clear, visually accessible International Sign discourse using space, depiction, role shift, and non-manual signals.

Construct meaning in International Sign without relying on shared vocabulary, using iconic and descriptive strategies.

Maintain cohesive and coherent IS discourse over extended stretches of communication.

Demonstrate increased receptive comprehension of diverse International Sign users.

Apply self-monitoring and repair strategies to improve clarity and intelligibility in real-time IS communication.

Reflect on their International Sign language development and identify strategies for continued growth.
